About Us

Our Mission

Indus Canada Foundation (Indus) is a non-profit organization based in Calgary, Alberta, committed to empowering communities, advocating for social justice, and promoting cultural diversity. Our mission is to create a positive impact by addressing social issues, supporting economic independence, and fostering a more inclusive society. We believe in the power of people helping people, and our initiatives are designed to uplift those in need, promote multicultural understanding, and strengthen the social fabric of our community.

What We Do

At Indus, we work across multiple domains to achieve our mission. Here's an overview of our key focus areas:

Women Empowerment: We support women's economic independence and leadership through advocacy, education, and interactive workshops. Our programs provide women with the skills and resources they need to succeed in their careers and businesses. We also organize events to raise awareness about domestic violence and the impact of family violence on children's psychology.

Addressing Social Issues: Indus tackles critical social issues such as drug addiction, racism, and hate crimes through community forums, consultations, and social media campaigns. We aim to break down stigmas, foster understanding, and encourage positive change.

Promotion of Indus Valley Culture: As part of our commitment to multiculturalism, Indus promotes the rich heritage of the Indus Valley region. We host cultural events, musical performances, and exhibitions to celebrate Sindhi culture and contribute to Alberta's vibrant multicultural landscape.

Sustainable Development: Indus implements projects that address basic needs, such as providing clean water through solar water pumping systems in rural villages. We also support vocational training, small businesses, and other initiatives to alleviate poverty and empower underprivileged people.

Our Impact

Since our inception, Indus has made a tangible difference in the lives of countless individuals and families. Our projects have provided clean drinking water to thousands, empowered women to pursue their career goals, and offered support to families in crisis. We have organized flood relief efforts, medical camps, and community forums to address pressing social issues and bring people together.

Our work has been recognized through various awards and honors, including Alberta's 'Coat of Arms' badge, the 'Ambassador of Indus Valley Culture' award, and other accolades for our commitment to social development and cultural promotion.
